Don't install the redux mod into the doom 3 installation folder just yet. I totally recommend installing the high poly mod with redux.ĭownload Redux and Redux update(s) and install redux updates into the redux folder that contains the base and redux folders. That way it still feels like a horror game with tension but also brings more gameplay quality IMO. Glen Murphy duct tape mod gives you a standalone flashlight unchanged while also giving you a mounted flashlight for the shotgun and submachine gun but it's smaller and less bright. It's the perfect duct tape mod that balances between just having a standalone flashlight or having a mounted flashlight like BFG edition. I do however recommend Glen Murphy's duct tape mod. Also, it removes the exploding gore which can be detrimental to gameplay. Nitrogore is optional, I ended up not really liking it since the bodies of demons that are supposed to disappear don't have collision and it can sometimes look weird when walking near them.
Also, the audio quality of the original Doom 3 over BFG edition is SOOO much better and verbal speech is much easier to understand. I opted out of Doom 3 CC since it's just messy and ugly. It's still a great mod for gamers who wants to play game basically untouched but it works well on today hardware and screen resolutions. I felt that Enhanced Edition mod is for playing the game as true to the original with some modern enhancements, otherwise, it's not needed. The only mod I decided to opt-out of is Doom 3 Enhanced Edition and Doom 3 CC. My understanding is that you create a "mod" folder in the main installation folder and then drop your mods in but what about mod conflicting other mods like graphic mods? I'm looking for the best graphic mods, duct tape mod by Glen Murphy, and a subtitles mod if there's one. How can I modernize Doom 3 and RoE? I just finished playing Doom 3 BFG and want to play regular Doom 3 to see why everyone is complaining about Doom 3 BFG which I thought was alright but definitely not as good as Doom 2016 or Eternal.
